WHAT
WE DO
We
provide services, software and advice that allow third sector
organisations to campaign through mobile phone technologies. The
campaigns can be run to meet any charitable objective such as donor
care, to gather supporter information, to educate or to fundraise.

Vir2
Ltd
have been
providing mobile fundraising services to charities since
2005. Our first clients were Action Aid and The Brooke to whom we
(still) provide text and call back services. We have provided advice
and services to hundreds clients about many types of campaign including
Bluetooth, SMS Marketing, Text Donation and Call Centre Services (like
Text and Call Back).
Vir2
Ltd
are
an ethical company, we only provide services to third sector
connected organisations and their suppliers (like call centres) which
means our clients' customer data and reputations are safe with
us.
We have evolved to
meet the demands of our clients to do much more than just Text
Donation, but our history is linked to the campaign because Vir2
began the campaign to remove VAT from text donation in 2006.
Vir2 lobbied Parliament through our local MP Mark Oaten and through direct
mail to all the members of both houses. The first stage of the campaign
resulted in a letter from Jane Kennedy MP as Treasury Secretary
claiming that HMRC did not remove VAT from donations regardless of the
method. We next lobbied the Mobile Networks through our membership of
the Mobile Data Association. We were joined in 2008 by the Charities
Aid Foundation, the Institute of Fundraising, NFP Synergy and a number
of leading charities. The mobile networks announced an
agreement
with HMRC brokered by the Mobile Data Association in August 2009 for VAT free short codes. In November
2009, O2 announced that they will
pay at least 90% across all tariffs. The announcement became
the first shot in the mobile network "generosity war" which has
resulted in both O2 and Vodafone offering 100% payouts in July 2010 and
even Virgin Mobile who have to pay T-Mobile for every donation offering
89% payouts to charity.
Vir2
CEO, Roger Craven was elected to the board of the Mobile Data
Associaiton in June 2010 to take text donation and charitable giving
through mobile phones on to the next step.
Vir2
Ltd, is a private limited company registered in England (number 0546
4025). We are registered with the Information Commissioner number Z9709740. We are members
of the Mobile Data Association and 160
Characters.
