BT announce co-operation agreement with Vir2

Charities Aid Foundation launches text donation service to open up text fundraising for all charities using Vir2's technology platform

The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) has today (22 November) launched a text donation service which will make it easy and affordable for all charities to fundraise and communicate with supporters through their mobile phones. The new service, part of CAF’s Fundraising Support Service, gives charities a new channel for fundraising, opening up access to the 96% of adults in the UK who own a mobile phone.

Vir2 welcomes O2's 100% payout rate for charities

O2 has joined Vodafone in announcing it will from 1st August pass on 100 per cent of text donations to charity. From today, UK-based registered charities will receive the full amount donated by the network’s customers using a five-digit ‘shortcode’ starting with the numbers 70.

Vir2 welcomes Vodafone's 100% payout rate for charities

Vodafone has become the first mobile phone operator to pass on 100 per cent of text donations to charity. From today, UK-based registered charities will receive the full amount donated by the network’s customers using a five-digit ‘shortcode’ starting with the numbers 70.
John Low, chief executive of the Charities Aid Foundation, said charities "would celebrate this announcement".

Vir2 welcomes new network rates for charities

Hampshire based Vir2 Ltd, the UK’s leading specialist provider of mobile phone fundraising solutions, welcomed the announcement from Orange and Virgin Mobile that they were reducing their charges on donations made by text to 10% and 11% respectively on all donations made to charities on the special charity short codes starting 70 like 70300.
Orange were the last network to announce special charity rates. The average percentage received by charity for a text donation is now 90%. More>>>
